I had a very good experience with North Royal Oak Apartments. The staff was friendly, always helpful, and available. When it came to maintenance, they were ON TOP of their game. Both times I needed to contact them, they came the day of, or put in a work order for a new part and replaced it almost immediately without me needed to follow up with them. The location is SO close to both downtown Royal Oak as well as down town Ferndale! It does get hot in the summer with the AC unit, but I found when I put fans in my main windows, this cooled it down a lot, and made the temperature comfortable. The pool is well kept and not often busy, which was a nice perk. In the winter, they are great about salting and shoveling and this complex welcomes many different types of both small and large dogs! I had new appliances, real wood floor, and granite counter tops with already painted gray walls.

I really enjoyed living in North Royal Oak Apartments. It was in a perfect location close to the expressway and a 15 minute walk to downtown RO. The apartment complex is old with floor based heating and a wall unit AC, but had nice hardwood floors, wood cabinets, stainless steel appliances, and granite counters. The rent was reasonable also for the location. It was also nice not having to pay for gas or water. The only downside for me was the shared laundry that you have to pay for. It's almost like I technically was paying a water bill. All of my neighbors were friendly and respectful with super cute dogs! My sister misses visiting with her dog Gunner to play with them all. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking to live in the area and was sad to leave!

Showed up for a tour and then a guy in a dirty t-shirt and jeans appeared as the guide. Without hardly saying a word, he took me into a building that smelled like cigarette smoke. We went down a hallway with a few pairs of discarded shoes (again, he wasn't talking at all.) He then showed me the room, which was mediocre for the price, and I just looked around in silence. I awkwardly said I was done looking and then he showed me out. I haven't lived here, and I'm not going to ever.

I lived in a studio apartment from August '16 to July '17. I had an overall great experience! Pros: Close enough location to walk to downtown Royal Oak. A pool. A large parking lot. Newly finished flooring, counters, microwave, etcetera. Whenever I had a problem, it was fixed in a timely manner. Extremely friendly staff. Cons: Overflowing dumpsters are slightly unsightly. Notes: I wish the leasing office stayed open a little later, say until 6:00pm.

I lived in one of their studio apartments for a year & a half and I absolutely loved it. If I ever had a problem with maintenance, it'd be fixed before I got home from work. Sidewalks were always salted and/or shoveled before I left for work at 7:45 in the winter and the grass was cut often in the summer. Being .8 miles from downtown RO is an awesome perk. Also, you're decently close to I-75 & 696. Unfortunately, their rent went up so I had to move but I would highly recommend living here!
