I was labeled a chronic relapser, diagnosed with pancreatitis, and experienced severe consequences. I had been in & out of programs for years. I was completely lost, hopeless, and had convinced myself that I wasn’t worthy or capable of sobriety. When I got to Wayside House I brought over a decade of substance use, diagnosis of depression/anxiety, years of unresolved trauma, legal & financial problems, and not an ounce of self worth. My experience at Wayside was so drastically different than anything I’ve ever experienced. I desperately needed (but not at all wanted) an all women’s facility, with long term options, a full continuum of care, a structured & supportive environment, and staff that were skilled & compassionate. The authenticity, dedication, quality of care, innovative therapies & services which creates sustainable healing & growth. My sobriety date is 1/18/10 and have accomplished long term recovery, true happiness, success, and countless gifts & accomplishments. Wayside is a nonprofit organization established in 1944 and offers help to women regardless of financial circumstances, or lack of insurance coverage.

This place is a scam. They hire people straight out of school (like Ana) who are super awkward and still very unsure on their feet. And can Not type. 1/2 of our few sessions together were her typing and deleting mistakes to correct them. Very disturbing for a highly educated patient leaving herself vulnerable to new people cutting into her deepest issues. If you expect to feel safe, be prepared to feel tremendously judged. Zero help received here. Had to wait about six weeks to get to go to another, much more professional and helpful treatment center. Life’s been great ever since. Wayside was like a purgatory for my healing. It was a step toward the intended right direction in my life, just unfortunately didn’t offer the support I needed to find sobriety. It held me back from finding real treatment with empathy.

In regards to the iop program. Only one competent therapist out of the 3 (julia). One should not be a therapist. Awful, monotone, sessions with her are like paying to talk to a wall. Other therapist isnt even licensed and is seeing individual clients and running groups. Waste of time and money. Psychiatrist is good and the only thing worth sticking around for.

I am so grateful to have been able to go here. They saved my life! I do not have a single complaint. They really care about you and know what they are doing.

Back in the Late 80's , I moved from Maui to Deleay Beach..I was Sober a few years at that point.I lived in Delray Beach and went Everyday to Central House A.A. Meeting ( No Longer standing.. Demolished ) Wayside was Literally just 75 yards down the Alley..and the Women would walk to the Meetings 3 times a day..Noon, 5:30, 8pm..I PERSONALLY EYE WITNESSED Countless Women's Lives Saved Turned Around / Changed Forever..Ive Recently Celebrated 34 years of Sobriety in A.A. and I Still RECOMMEND Wayside as a Place ( the Only place in my opinion ) for people to Send / Take their Loved ones to Help save their Lives !!! Completely for Women by Women who Have walked That Road before them. All of the Staff are Women in Recovery..or Many Women Volunteers who Owe Their very Lives to the Place. They Truely Practice the 12 the Step.(of A.A. ) at Wayside..as Far as I know.. I'm the only Man who was allowed past the Door into the Kitchen..when I carried a young woman Alcoholic over my shoulder past Dinner time in early Evening..she Had Thrown up all over my back..and The staff gave me a Coffee and i sat in the Kitchen while they found me a Large T-shirt.( the young woman was a previous Client of Wayside and was previously asked to leave..and took her back Without a sideways glance )..You must remember Wayside's Strong Rule of NO MEN ..NO EXCEPTIONS ! When I Saw them at the Meeting next day..Nothing was said..or needed to be. Wayside is the kind of place the Angels visit from Time to Time..and bring the Hopeless Woman..Mike.
