I had to beg this company to install a new toilet after waking up to many attempted flush surprises in the morning, and leaking water creating black mold all over the bathroom floor. The landlord didn’t follow through with any repairs until I had a city inspector come to the apartment and threaten them with roughly 1,500 of fines and code violations. I’ve been renting through JCap this year and I’ve been extremely satisfied with their attention to detail. Our furnace went out in November of 2020, and JCap sent over their own repairman and a professional company within 48 hours to have the issue resolved. As a college student, I shouldn’t be worried about my simple ability to be able to use my own toilet, and I have been able to find other companies within Eau Claire that care about student health and safety. I also had an entire family of squirrels living in the awning space beneath the living room of our “attic suite.” The exterior of the building we lived in has been unfinished for 3 years, and because of the ongoing construction, many animals have found convenient ways to make a living amongst college students. It’s unnerving to wake up to squirrel chitter chatter, find your way to the bathroom, use a leaky un-flushable toilet, and then go about your day as a student. It’s also concerning to see a squirrel kick your entire block of kitchen knives into the wooden floor on a Sunday morning. Am I being too harsh? I don’t know... maybe University Area Housing thinks their tenants are quite comparable in quality to the varmints and molds we do often end up living with while renting through their properties. It’s been almost a year since I’ve had to deal with anything regarding UAH, and I obviously can’t get over how terrible the experience was. I will forever resent the 4,500 I gave to them over the course of a year.

I have rented with this company since June of 2020. Save yourself the trouble and rent with literally any other company. We had to beg for our property to be updated and maintained. They do not give a rats a about their tenants. We were promised new windows at the end of August, and never heard anything since. We also were just alerted that we were going to have our place being to be toured... IN THE MIDDLE OF A GLOBAL PANDEMIC. Their website is poorly maintained as well and has almost no photos of their current properties. It's 2020, get a camera and take some pictures, for Pete's sake. Do not recommend. Their staff is also very poor at communicating and, in my experience, delivers very poor customer service.
If I could give them a 0 rating I would. They have been giving tours in our apartment without any notice and literally just let themselves in even with the pandemic going on. They also let the people touring with the option to wear masks or not when it’s my apartment I pay money for which is also way over priced considering how small it is. To save you the trouble just rent from any other rental company.
By far the worst living experience I’ve had in college. Our heat broke in the middle of winter and we got two space heaters as a replacement for a whole week and one of which didn’t even work. Our oven broke multiple times, door handle on the front door broke, and our kitchen sink constantly leaked. When our oven broke we were told that if we had “simple survival skills” we would be able to fix it ourselves. Completely unprofessional individuals who work for an unprofessional company. Whenever in contact with the company even with simple questions all we received was rude responses. On top of all this they milk students for their money and have no intention of making your living experience a success. They don’t care about people the only care about the money. Couldn’t recommend renting with these people any less. An awful living experience.
Good luck contacting them about any issues. They really don't care.
