This may be one of the stations on the West Somerset Railway, but this is not part of the WSR, so don’t be misled by some of the other reviews! Washford has an excellent museum with lots of history of the former Somerset & Dorset Railway, sheds you can visit, a signal box and you can even have a go at operating some of the (decommissioned) signals. This is certainly one of our family’s favourite stations to visit along the line. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable, and they have a very small shop. There’s a great pub in the village too.

The West Somerset Railway is one of the best heritage railways in the country. The longest heritage railway in the country running only on privately owned track. Good facilities, restaurant carriage on most trains. Friendly staff.
