An amazing practice! The women here are very personable and easy to talk to - a dramatic difference from the OB experience! A collaborative practice of 2 (now 3) midwives who are there with you every step of the way. Really cannot speak highly enough of these wonderful ladies.
My wife did weeks of focused research even before she became pregnant. I had a little concern about us not having a hospital birth. We had our baby early yesterday morning, Saturday Oct 8th, 2011. Our midwives were AMAZING! Mel allowed us to do what felt natural. She gave us space and guided us when we didn't know what to do next. When the time came for her to step in and direct; Mel did not hesitate in her actions. Communication before laboring was perfect and the unlimited communication helped my wife feel supported and relaxed. My wife had our baby girl after 24 hours of laboring with 3 hours of pushing. Within 3 hours of birth we had our home and baby to ourselves. I can't tell you how much the positive experience means to me. It's now Sunday and my baby is ready to watch some Sunday night FOOTBALL!!! I hope this review sheds light on the Midwife Birth Approach with Midwife Seattle.
Start to finish, I could not have had better care throughout my pregnancy, labor, and delivery! Cindie and Katrina (who, sadly for Seattle, has moved to another state) were incredibly kind and knowledgeable during my prenatal visits, and they and their stellar receptionist all went out of their way to help me navigate my unusual (or usual, but annoyingly complicated) insurance situation. I called Cindie with an issue late in pregnancy, and she had me come into the office to check me out - pulling her away from dinner on a holiday weekend. And Cindie's help during my overnight labor and delivery was amazing - she gave me the perfect combination of space and support and calmly talked me through some tense moments there at the end. I'd give more stars if I could.
Cindie and Elise made me feel comfortable throughout pregnancy and were always available to answer questions long after our baby was born. Could not have had a better experience giving birth!
