When going from From Hannover to Dortmund Airport Holzwickede is the best option.

The train station is small and self serviced. I appreciate they have direct bus connection with Dortmund International Airport. Check their schedule which is placed directly on the wall near the bus stop. Normally the bus running every 30 minutes.

Deutsche Bahn listed on my train ticket the airport express bus trip from Dortmund airport to Dortmund CentralStation. I lost almost 2h (winter, cold) because in reality the airport transfer was not included in my train ticket.

The station is situated close to the airport, 10-15 mins by foot. Ticket terminals are not very user friendly and the the tickets are rather expensive.
