Lovely site in a great woody setting. Just wonderful. The road is very comfortable to go up to the site contrary to what I could read in the comments
like
Very high up in the mountain an Ancient secluded fortress or religious village ...fresh air and ancient partially covered mystic.. Not bad for a fast visit
It's a bit of a steep drive up and whilst it is amazing that this existed I'm not sure I would recommend. Do stop off at Uzumlu for fantastic pancakes-that alone is worth the drive from Fethiye
Ruins of an old Helenistic town from 300 b.c. On 5th- 7th a.c it was a roman towm. You can see some ruins of the town walls. the market place, hammam, hippodrome. Exvellent Roman amphitheatre. Not many signs on place. lot to walk and climb.... Great view of Fhetiye and the sea.
Amazing ancient runs perched high on top of a mountain.Free admission. Fantastic views.
We were the only ones there on a late September afternoon. This is quite different than the other ruins giving a less co ilozed feel to it. The ruins area is quite large and the paths are not well marked. You need to have some level.of fitness to explore.
Route is easy just follow the main trail which is divided by stones and starts from left. Be careful for the open cisterns some of them hasn't been warned with the signs so watch out for your steps. When you arrive to the Roman teather you will see magnificent settings of it and theater is the last building on the trail. In a few minutes you reach to the ticket office (visit is free by the way) but don't miss the great polygonal city walls right after the teather.
Absolutely wonderful. Quite taken back by its beautiful history. However very steep in places. Wear trainers not flip flops from Davida wife Jane .ENJOY
