We have lived in the Decatur area for years and never knew about Clyde Shepherd Nature Preserve - now it's our own little secret hiking trail right behind the new Quick Trip on Scott Blvd. Very interesting place that changes into a marsh after a heavy rain. Volunteers have built extensive raised boardwalks throughout so your feet stay dry. Our last visit they had goats in fenced in areas that are trained to eat only poison ivy and weeds. Also during our walk along the South Fork of Peachtree Creek we heard frogs, saw ducks and something swimming along that might have been a beaver.

Wonderful place. Mostly flat paths. Some muddy spots, but it's next to a creek, and is specifically designed for wetlands preservation. Lots of birds and wildlife. Bring binoculars and cameras.

Nice little preserve. We went on a quiet, damp morning. Well shaded and secluded space. Found a few mushroooms and molds from right off the yellow trail ...
