This is one of the places in TBay to try some Finn pancakes. They were great! So great we saved them for last. Almost all the patrons are seniors. So are the staff too. You can tell who are tourists. We tried the Big Finn and the portions were great. Very family oriented restaurant. Worth the value.

Our first time trying finnish pancakes and its very good. servers are very nice and we really enjoyed the food. This is a must if you are visiting Thunder Bay.
We recently had a wonderful breakfast at Niva’s when visiting Thunder Bay. We were warmly greeted by enthusiastic staff and promptly seated and offered beverages. We received our meals and found them delicious. The staff always circled asking whether we needed more coffee or anything else.
Customer service was good, lovely waitress, but Mediocre food, I was expecting more delicious foods.
We came on a Sunday morning, they're very busy but you know that's always a good sign. We didn't have to wait to long to be seated as there wasn't any available tables when we got there. Our waitress was very friendly and courteous and it just plain felt like you were talking to a family member. I ordered one of the specials, back bacon with 2 eggs, toast and home fries. My dad ordered a clubhouse sandwich with fries and gravy. Both were absolutely phenomenal and really hit the spot. If you're looking for a good ma & pa home cooked breakfast then look no further than Niva's!! You don't be disappointed I can assure you of this. If you are you then have no taste buds in my humble opinion.
