I left there with 2 big bed sores on my rear. The pain meds ,I had to beg for the first week. There were several great nurses, but most were just barely doing their job. Will go anywhere else next time

The Citadel deserves 0 stars, but since that isn't an option, I left one. My parents were trying to move into he Citadel. My parents went and looked at the facility, liked it and so we set up a medical assessment for them. Well, the first assessment appointment, nobody from the Citadel bothered to show up. The second assessment appointment, again...nobody showed up. My dad had to call to ask what was happening and then they finally sent someone over to do the assessment (and she was more than a half and hour late). A woman named Shana Sin (Sp?) came and did the assessment. She was very rude and short with my parents (my mother is 80, has a brain tumor and is hard of hearing; my father is 84 and lost most of his hearing during military service). She was only there for a very short time, only asked a couple of questions and then left. Shortly after she left, she called and said they would not be accepted. She refused to give my parents any reason why, so my husband called and spoke to her. She was extremely short and rude with my husband as well. When he politely asked why they weren't accepted, she said that they made their decision and that's that. She refused to give a specific reason and refused any further discussion. Not being accepted is fine, but her behavior and nasty refusal to give a reason is unacceptable. This is the most unprofessional behavior I have ever seen or heard of. I would not recommend this place to anyone. This kind of nasty, unprofessional behavior should NEVER be accepted anywhere, but especially not in an assisted living facility environment where you are dealing with our elderly population. Any place that treats seniors and military veterans this poorly is nowhere you should want to live. My parents feel awful and have no idea why they weren't accepted.

I don’t even know where to start. This place seemed amazing when we toured it, but after our loved one being in here for a couple of months, we have nothing good to say. We have been trying to schedule a meeting with Kathryn, to discuss our concerns, and she will not make time for us. Today was the breaking point, one of the women there (Conchita) yelled at my grandmother, because she said her coffee was cold and she did not get everything she ordered for breakfast. Conchita then proceeded to heat her coffee too hot for her drink. The physical therapy here is a joke, they had my grandma walk across the room and back, checked her blood pressure, and that was it. My grandmother is visually impaired, and they keep trying to get her to sign documents she can’t see. We are paying extra for them to escort her to their events, and they don’t bother telling her there is even events going on. We bought her a taking clock, because one nurse told her it was 8:30, when it was actually 9:30 (they were 1.5 hours late bringing her meds, and didn’t want her to know). When you are paying over 3,000 a month for care, you expect much higher quality than is being provided in this place. I would NOT recommend bringing a loved one to this facility.
