Gorgeous historical synagogue and nice grounds. Very large interior, with beautiful ceilings and windows and so on. There's a decent array of items and history on display in the museum. There's also a room upstairs with a 20 minute video looping (unfortunately it's presented in a random room with minimal seating) that provides some interesting additional history about the synagogue and the community. And it has a great gift shop.

Such a large and beautiful synagogue in the middle of Florence, Italy. Highly recommended for any Jew traveling in the area. The detail on the interior as well as the exterior is simply breathtaking. There is an elevator inside in case stairs are difficult to get to the upper 2 floors. Flash photography is prohibited. During our July 2019 visit, we had no issues wearing shorts - as someone reviewed earlier. The only rule posted was all bags must be checked into lockers before entering thru security. Yes, there is an entry fee which we considered small considering it is for the maintenance and general fund for the shul. There was a small military presence outside, but it made us feel safer. Again, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Very unique architecturally: Moorish Revival. A nice change from the cathedrals which, beautiful as they are, start to look the same. Unfortunately the museum wasn't open when we were there and I expect it would have greatly enhanced the experience. It would be helpful if there were some kind of attractive sign or small/ inexpensive handout providing background information.

Glorious architecture, amazing place to start learning about the local Jews. Highly reccomend. The achostics are fantastic for singing. It's the most beautiful synagogue I have ever seen. Period.

From looking at the city tops it is difficult to guess that this is a Synagogue. Having visited the place I must say it is very special and beautiful especially since the design is oriental and the colors are unusual, not typical for European synagogues (...this is my personal observation relating to those I visited until now). Note that the large gardens that you see on the city map right by the Synagogue, are not actually connected to it and cannot be visited with the entrance ticket. There is a sign at the entrance that cameras are not allowed but the peson inside allowed mobile phone photos with no flash.
