Amazing! I came here to buy my first violin after looking online for a reputable luthier. This is the place to go!!! Doug is extremely enthusiastic about all his instruments and is an absolute expert in the craft. He is more than happy to give you advice and tips if you are new to Violin. For those that are budget restrictive - everything here is extremely reasonably cheap! I was expecting to pay 1000 for a beginner/intermediate violin but ended up with something for advanced - inclusive with a kit shoulder rest for under budget! If you’re new to violin or a more experienced violinist looking for servicing, bow re-hairing, or just to upgrade to a better Violin - North Shore Strings is the place to go in Sydney! I can not recommend Doug highly enough - with his friendly sidekick Stephanie. Thanks for helping me out! (PS: the place can be a bit tricky to find - you will need to take the lifts next to the cafe and go to LG and it is on your right as you exit the lift).
I bought a violin from NSS a couple of years ago - an amazing instrument and incredible value. Always such great, knowledgable service :D
Just randomly I visited this workshop to purchase rosin for my new violin. I spent a few dollars on rosin, but he ended up offering to tune my violin and to teach me how to take care of the bow etc. Also, Doug is the only violin teacher who has told me that I wasn’t too old to learn violin as I had written to a few violin instructors in Sydney who had rejected me because of my age. I was so pleased to have met Doug today as he has also accepted me to enrol with ongoing lessons.
Thank you so much! Amazing conversation, service and willingness to help. Would recommend 100%. Good location close to the city!
Thank you for taking your time testing my violin! Great service.
So knowledgeable and patient. Fabulous instruments, service and people.
Very friendly, understanding and professional staff and boss. Our bridge was wonky, and he dealt with it immediately and explained what he did so it was also a learning experience. He also had very fair prices. He DID NOT CHARGE us at all for his help, and recommended the cheapest but best quality Rosen-a very honest person. He used his own valuable time to fix our cello with a lot of patience for FREE, and he seemed a very happy person.
