Horrible experience. I am NOT happy with the treatment my teenager received. The very first and ONLY family session we had the counselor advised us she was scheduled to be released that same day (although my daughter was still very much asking for and needing help) and basically it was up to me to figure out what happens next. As a parent this is one of the most stressful situations I have been in. I was beyond disappointed with their communication with me which was basically nonexistent. I’ve asked now for over a week to talk to the doctor about overprescribing my daughter and trying to understand what she’s prescribed and why. Still haven’t got a call from the doctor which I was told over a week ago they would have him call. Most of all they offered NO support or guidance to me what so ever as a parent. I felt completely alone throughout her entire stay. No effort was made to involve me in ANY part of her treatment. Honestly they did nothing positive to help me and my family though this traumatic experience. PAY ATTENTION TO REVIEWS BEFORE SENDING A LOVED ONE HERE.

I understand that during these unprecedented times with the pandemic, individuals are experiencing more mental health crises than ever. So, to find a good IOP program, I researched. I saw the negative reviews about this hospital and my therapist commented that they are highly disorganized, but I wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt. This was a true mistake when it came to Smokey Point Behavioral Hospital. Everyone from the administrative staff, to the intake staff and the community liaison lacked the proper communication skills and they do not talk to one another! The entire process of trying to get an assessment was a nightmare because they are a “walk-in only” facility and the wait times ranged anywhere from 2 to 8 hours. I was instructed to come to the hospital by 6 AM Thursday morning (over an hour drive) only to find out that there wasn’t clinician onsite and the one staff member who assured me she would be there to assist at 6 AM, was nowhere to be seen. I tried calling her and emailing and I was told by the very rude staff member onsite that the clinician would not be there for at least another hour. When I tried to complain to the director of the IOP program, Meghan Howell, she was completely unprofessional and unwilling to take responsibility for her actions or the actions of the department staff. This is NOT the place to go when you are in need of help.

This place has been the answer to my prayers for my son. They are caring and motivating unlike other places he has been. Spot on with his medical care and helping him get his life back on track. Do not go by the negative reviews.

I stayed here for a little over a week. It was my first time in an inpatient hospital. I am young. I was the youngest person in my unit. The staff are nice but can be triggering, they'll yell and tell us we did something wrong. they're oblivous staff. the only thing that came out of my stay was the drugs. i didnt come out with ANY coping skills. just drugs. they dont get back to you about your prescription. they dont communicate well with parents//gaurdians. Calls dont ever get through, the phone will just ring. they weigh you in front of your whole unit. food is pretty bad. you have to ask to go everywhere and ask for everything. this can also be triggering because some might not know how to ask, or theyre afraid they'll say it wrong and get punished. beds are uncomfortable, i ended up sleeping on the floor. all i got out of my stay was a new diagnoses and new medications.

I just discharged from this place. It is really great place to go to. All the staff are nice and supporting. I would go to this place again if I really need too.
