Airport is on the coast, by the ocean. It was clean, with plenty of hand sanitizer around. Staff was friendly and helpful. Quick and easy to move around.

This airport is clean, people are friendly and the prices (for being an airport) are very reasonable. We enjoyed flying from here and were surprised by the amount of disinfectant that is provided throughout the airport. Even the woman at the gate, checking boarding passes, was happy and friendly. I've rarely seen an airport like this one. Congrats

Small airport, short ways and easy to find on Sao Miguel. Duty free shopping and snack / coffee bars available. We found that the azorean souvenirs had reasonable prices. Be prepared that you will have to walk to the airplanes, but that's fun!

We arrived late on July 10th in ponta Delgada airport. Due to covid situation all passengers had either to show a proof of a recent test or do a test on arrival. This all together took about one hour (would be slightly faster if we had already done a test and only need to show the results but not much). The staff was very friendly but their process is obviously not prepared for too many people. (Most of the waiting is related to paperwork due to they do not have a digital system where the passengers could enter the necessary information directly). We did the test on arrival as we had not yet received the results from the test in our home country. It seems they intended to provide the results of the test within 12 hours but they are just overwhelmed. So they told us to call a number if after 48 hours we did not get the results. After over 50 hours, we called the number and they told us they already had our results and the test was negative. They told us that it seems they have troubles to send SMS to foreign numbers. Even the test we did in our home country was not yet there when we arrived ponta Delgada late in the evening, it arrived the next morning. We are very glad we did that test before arriving in Ponta Delgada as the results for the test on arrival just took too long. (Though it seems the Azores authority did not plan that scenario and the possibility to submit a test made in the home country afterwards)

I was there in 1998 and it looks completely different, but it is still beautiful. When you are getting ready to land, it looks like you are getting ready to land on water...Awsome! Service was excellent.
