The Palms to Pines hike from Palm Springs to the top of the tram is one of the most strenuous dayhikes anywhere, taking you up 8,000 feet over 12 miles. Mike and Dan are superb personal trainers who talked me up it in 7 1/2 hours. Stretches and electrolytes prevented cramps, so it was painless. What views! What a sense of accomplishment!
