Looking for a quick meal on a vacation, travelling east. It's tough when we're not familiar with the area. So many restaurants and unknown warung. So following a well known trick* to see if the place is a good place to eat or best avoided. *No, it's not using Google Maps. A quick glance at the location and decided to try. We're not mistaken. The sambal is very good (they serve on a cobek and don't charge extra for it). Chickens are ayam kampung and nicely marinated, traditional way. Best of all, we paid fair price for the food and service. Our appreciation for the family owned and operated business. I wonder if they somehow want to expand and meet the same fate as most Sundanese restaurant chains. From warung rakyat going upmarket with lots of branches and loosing their roots. Please don't.
One of my favorite place to eat authenti. sundanese food. Their choice of menu is exquisite, ranging from beef/fat jerky, huge amount of pepes (steamed food), and ayam kampung (free range chicken) But for me, their main advantage is the varieties of lalaban (raw vegetables) they provide. For this season, I got antanan, pohpohan, bontèng, tèrong belanda, and rendeu.
If you go to pangandaran and want to have lunch before you reach your destination you can stop here. The good point, it has spacious parking lot. This warung sells sundanese food such as fried chicken, tofu, tempe, fried fish, stinky beans and sambals... Rating 75/100

Recomended place for sambal n sundanese food lovers. Simple food (fried/grilled chicken or fish) served with sambal and lalapan (kind of fresh leaves). Special menu: pepes (steamed chicken or fish wrapped in banana leaf), and grilled pete. Free hot tea.
