Initially coming into existence as a gallery and a learning center for Paper Marbling (Ebru) and Calligraphy, our institute has evolved to become a platform of arts with a focus on traditional oriental art forms. We have participated in numerous prestigious exhibitions such as the Museumnacht at Boening van Boijmans and others around the world to promote these traditional art forms. Our activities were visited by public figures such as Eberhard van der Laan (ex-Mayor of Amsterdam) and the Dutch Queen Beatrix.‍ Today we offer workshops and comprehensive courses, organize exhibitions and participate in various cultural events. We have also been the first organization to use Paper Marbling as part of creative art therapy, working closely with a number of psychology clinics in the Netherlands.‍ We believe that a consistent representation and a revised interpretation of these art forms will play a crucial role in enriching the multicultural society in the Netherlands and around the world.

The only place in the Netherlands for the old forgotten art of “Ebru” painting on water. Great artist. Also gives workshops for young and old. All in all great place.

After having tried Turkish marbling a few years ago during my holidays in Turkey, I really wanted to try it again and install a setup in my arts&crafts studio. I contacted Rumi Kunst Instituut and they advised me on what materials to get. I got a beautiful, complete set with pre-mixed Ebru water, colors, brushes, paper and a marbling tray. Delivery was super fast, and they gave me detailed instructions about how to set it up. If you are looking into Ebru/Turkish marbling in the Netherlands, look no further! They also organize courses and workshops.

I highly recommend this art class. The experience of paper marbling is simply fun, relaxing and fascinating. You will be mesmerized by the organic way the colors move, behave and shape. After an introduction to the art, you are shown the different techniques you can use, which are well explained and demonstrated. You then get to do your own marblings, where you are never left hanging in the air if you are unsure how to continue. While two hours might seem short, it is perfectly enough time to do several satisfying pieces with the shown techniques. You of course get to take them along with you at the end of the class, which, by the way, takes place in a lovely studio. All in all, it is hard to put into words the feeling of flow you get from shaping color blots into flowers and patterns. Try it out for yourself and you'll know what I mean.

I had a very excellent experience here on the last day of 2018. The whole experience was like a meditation and I felt peace during marbling. At the end of this course, I had my name written in Arabic on the paper. Before I left he even gave me a marbling paint as a gift, and to be honest, that’s really a big surprise. Personally, this experience was really worthy.

As a student of Chinese calligraphy I was very curious to try my hand at Arabic calligraphy. The class was taught by a master calligrapher with a lifetime of experience, assisted by his daughter. Both were very enthusiastic and friendly, making the class a very enjoyable experience. The class started with some basics (pen, ink, paper) and a demonstration of the first few letters of the alphabet. Then it was my turn, starting with some "dots" and then trying to replicate some of the letters, under the watchful eye of the master. I felt that under his gentle corrections and encouragement I made some progress during the class, and I left feeling inspired and with some paper, ink and pen they very conveniently sold right at the studio so I can give it a go myself. This is my first stop in Netherlands. I had got a perfect day and unforgettable experience about joining this workshop. Everything is well explained, great printing tools. Instructor Mehmet and his daughter Nur are kind, helpful and professional. They make all the things wonderful. Finally it is surprising and exciting that I can bring all of my printings back to home.
