The best in vintage typewriters! I found Karl Business Machines online when searching for a vintage typewriter. I discovered the extraordinary service and talent of Rick when contacting him for his help in choosing one from his website to be custom made for me. After deciding on the model and custom paint color, I placed my order. I could only imagine the finished product. Rick sent me photos during the restoration, then let me know when it was on the way. Shipped from New Jersey to California, it arrived safe and sound, beautifully and carefully packed. It was such a thrill to open the box! I think many businesses have lost their commitment to impeccable service and attention to details. It was refreshing to receive this vintage piece immaculately restored and with an updated, vibrant paint color flawlessly baked on. A typewriter that will now last for even more generations to come. The 1940's pink Royal Quiet Deluxe, I purchased. The 1950's mint green Olympia was a gift. I love them both for different reasons. Like their candy colors, who can have just one? Now I have a collection. Two is a collection, right? There is something about typing on a vintage typewriter that brings a romance to the present from the days long ago. With the sound of each key striking the ribbon and the high-pitched ring of the bell at the end of each line, I am connected at once to every author before me who used a manual typewriter to tell their stories. I love everything about writing this way. There is no one in the world who does what Rick does at Karl Business Machines. Rick at Karl Business Machines is WONDERFUL! I rescued this 1963 Olivetti Lettera 32 from an antique store in Lambertville. She was in decent working condition, but had a few issues with sticky keys, and an immobile platen. Rick was able to diagnose the problems, and fix up this machine to practically new at a reasonable price. Rick was so helpful, and took the time to explain all of the repairs. He even went out of the way to find the original information card for this model! He was very accessible by phone, and incredibly accommodating with our availability to schedule an appointment for consultation and repairs. I'm so happy we found Karl Business Machines - and I'm grateful that they're keeping the art of typewriting alive!
