Called to inquire about services and lady was quick to say that they are taking no new clients and would not answer any questions. Guess I am not using them now or ever.

I'm a freelance designer and I've been using Vellmann's tax consultancy for several years - it was recommended to me by other (British and Swedish) freelancers. Vellmann has handled all contact with Finanzamt, and even filed a successful complaint when Finanzamt wanted to tax me too high. Just the thing you would expect. As a bonus, the bureau is very accommodating in the way I want to communicate, be it through personal visits or PGP encrypted emails. I'm very satisfied and would happily recommend them, especially to foreigners. Friendly and professional consultants who speak English!
Edit: After my review, I promptly received a request from the company demanding that I take my review down by 9th June, 2017. I have asked them to publish any objections to my review publically as a reply to this review. -- Not satisfied. I used these tax advisers for 2 years whilst I was a contractor. At the start of this year I got a bill from the tax office for EUR 40,000, as I had been underpaying my tax for 2015 & 2016. Effectively, I had been paying this tax 'adviser' every month and quarter to submit the wrong numbers. The problem was in 2015 they estimated an incorrect income and didn't change it, despite my income being regular in amount at 1 invoice per month since. At the start of 2017 I decided to finish my work contract to complete my MBA. Having this surprise tax bill in the middle of my thesis was a huge personal disruption and impact to my cash flow. It could have ended my studies and put me in debt. When raising the issue with them, they did not apologize for the error. Instead, they proceeded to recommend that in addition to paying the EUR40,000, I should also pay advance tax payments for 2017 (approx 8k per quarter) by declaring a false income whilst not working. Remarkable. In the end, it took personal letter and calls to the Finanzamt to sort out what I had expected this company to do for me. I will not be recommending this company.
Ich habe nach einer Steuerberaterin gesucht, weil ich keine Ahnung von Steuern habe. Ich wurde super beraten und aufgeklärt. Ich konnte auch mit der Hilfe meine Steuern zahlen.
Da ich neu in die Berufswelt gekommen bin und keine Ahnung von Steuern hatte brauchte ich eine Berater/in dank eines Freundes bin ich dann auf Frau Vellmann gestoßen sie hat mir sehr professionell geholfen. Und war sehr Transparent und es war mir auch klar was alles kostet und ich fand alles wirklich sehr fair danke und ich freue mich dass sie meine Steuerberaterin sind.
