The receptionists here seem to think that their entire job is to run interference with the public, in an effort to prevent the sheriff's office from having to perform as many of their assigned duties as possible. Not only do they seem to think that this is their job, but they do it as rudely as possible with the citizenry. I'm not sure where this misconception of purpose begins in the chain-of-command, but frankly it is inexcusable. I can't speak for the sheriff or any of the deputies, as I've never interacted with any of them directly, but for the folks answering the phones and greeting walk-ins, all I can say is that they are rude, unhelpful to the point of being obstructionistic, and downright combative for no reason.
Wreck on 81 backed up for 14 miles and the only officer around wasn’t sure how to direct traffic and turned everyone around going southbound and northbound lane which caused another traffic jam. Still sitting in traffic after 3 hours now. Only one officer has been seen
Loved one deceased and trying to contact them for property and no one will call us back. We call and the receptionist keep saying leave voice mails and we do but nothing and it’s been 4 days of messages. We are filing a complaint at this point, very inconsiderate!
If you mail your real property tax bills in it takes a LONG TIME for them to post on the Berkeley Co Sheriff Tax website, like a couple weeks
