Seraing, Belgium
Rue du Commandant Charlier
N/A
The outrageous and horrible way that this Fortress has been deliberately buried and built upon is, in my opinion, an unforgiveable disgrace to the memory of the many brave Belgian servicemen who lost their lives inside this fort whilst defending their homes, families and their country from German invasion TWICE in 26 years. What IS the point of burying this place of Patriotic sacrifice, building over it and then opening a museum to the place you have deliberately destroyed? An utter and complete insult to the Officers and men who died here- men like the CO Commandant Numa Charlier who, after gallantly leading his garrison and delaying the enemy advance, was killed when 251ID exploded a massive charge on the fort. The defenders, having lost their CO, their guns all destroyed, were forced to come out, hands up. As they did so, soldier Private Georges Joassin was shot out of hand. Fort de Boncelles was the ONLY fort (out of about 35) in the whole of Belgium that did not surrender itself in 1940. THAT is why the post-War treatment of this place is an insult to the patriots of 1940. RIP Numa Charlier RIP Georges Joassin NEVER FORGET!

Impressionante locatie omwille van zijn geschiedenis. Het museum is helaas gesloten omwille van faillissement.
Intéressant pour celui que le sujet passionne, je n’ai pas trouvé le responsable de l’établissement hyper accueillant
