An amazing rescue. I adopted my little guy through them and their follow up was timely and helpful. I went through multiple rescues looking for a dog to adopt and they were the first to respond and start the process. Would definitely recommend and will adopt through them again.

Beyond wonderful to get a kitten that lived with a dog at her foster home. She adapted so well to our family. Ruff Start is excellent!

Ruff Start started small and has done an excellent job of growing into a respectable business. 2 of our pets are from Ruff Start. They are doing fantastic work. Great job Ruff Start Rescue!

This review has been edited: We foster to adopted a dog that came from Texas from Ruff Start. They were fairly responsive during the fostering and adoption process. I understand this is a non-profit volunteer organization, but communication was not fluid and we were often bounced between multiple people. We loved our dog and she was a sweet girl, but we received concern from multiple vets and trainer regarding aggressive behavior our dog was displaying. This poor review is not about the dog becoming aggressive, rather about the reaction or lack there of from Ruff Start. We started working with a behavioral specialist connected to ruff start but soon after our puppy attack my wife and we made the extremely hard decision to surrender her. We were not initially pleased with how Ruff Start approached the surrender process. We felt judged as though we couldn't care for a dog, even though we feel like we exhausted training & behavioral options for our lifestyle. In my initial review I had strong feelings about Ruff Starts treatment towards us, but since, Julie, full-time employee of Ruff Start, reached out to me for feedback and suggestions on improving their services. It was a very pleasant conversation where we both were able to address pain points during the surrender process. She acknowledged the action steps & efforts we took in trying to make a successful home for our puppy and openly talked about some of their pain points as a volunteer-based organization. Her acknowledgement and willingness to hear our story gave us peace of mind that our former rescue is in good hands and they will find the right family for her. Our conversation helped us overcome feelings of guilt and grieving of surrendering our dog. I'm confident Julie and the team will also work to improve the challenging experience of surrendering a dog for their clients.

Poor communication, withheld serious info about dog I adopted. That caused trauma to both me and the sweet pup. Recommend undedQ
