Good for kids
The Reigate Fort is a piece of local history. It is remarkably beautiful on the top to watch down to the village/city. The best part it is funded by the national trust, so for free. Surrey got plenty of astounding landmark you can discover. Love the nature and only an hour away from london city.

A lovely area just below the clouds. A place to walk the dog or take the kids. A place to buy a coffee, ice cream or bag of chips. There's a fort just a little west of the cafe and pleany of bridle ways.
The 1890s was a worrying time in British history with France threatening to invade. England had to defend itself and its capital. If London was lost, the country and the empire would surely follow. Reigate Fort was part of England's defensive line. Reigate Fort was built as part of a 72-mile defence line to protect London whilst a huge ship-building programme was initiated by the British government. The southern line was divided into 10 sectors and the fort fell into 'Redhill Position', which was 11km long. It’s well preserved with lots of information panels explaining what each building was.
This place is always open and there is plenty of information for the visitor. It is well taken care of and it's perfect for families with kids. Please note that there is no toilet in site.
Beautiful views on a clear day. Very nice for a place to walk.
