Nice countryside but plenty of litter around including the overflowing doggie waste bin and the smell was awful!

The best place to go to unwind. drink some beer. And have a barbeque. Always see familiar faces and have fun. Great for all ages
Interesting location, that shows the history of the canal and water management functions for Reading town. Shame more couldn't be made of it, may be some information panels for the casual walkers along the river/canal
Riding out of Reading along the Kennet, this is the first tranquil spot. Sat dipping toes into the cool water. Beautiful
Entertaining for visitors but dangerous for boaters. Fast flowing outflow immediately below lock and overgrown landing stage makes it very difficult to get boat moored below and then operation of large lock is difficult requiring at least 2 adults. It gate paddles, no side paddles makes flow strong, but necessary to offset leak through bottom gates. One of most dangerous on the inland waterways.
