We had an excellent time on our whale watching trip. We were out a little longer than anticipated because we didn't spot our first whale until two hours into the trip. Once we saw the first, we saw two more. On the way back, we took a small detour to see a school of dolphin! We were back 1.5 hours after the scheduled ending, but I would sacrifice punctuality for seeing more marine life any day. The staff were professional and knowledgeable, and the boat was in good condition.

Rough ride in boat coming back, can really beat you up. Dolphin views were pretty awesome, but very limited as you are chasing a pod of wild dolphin they find via binoculars from shore.

We booked a whale watching tour on a whim as we'd finished a trail running event outside of Ponta Delgada. And we were really lucky on that day. It all started with a breifing at their office and then we got on the boats. A quick journey out to sea (well it's speedboats) and we came up to some bottlenose dolphins right away. Really cool and as they'd said in the breifing, there was a very low chance of any whales during this season we enjoyed what we could see. But shortly after we actually spotted two Fin Whales in a distance which was a treat. When they disappeared we cruised around a bit before coming upon some Atlantic Spotted Dolphins. Very cute and playful. But that had to be cut short because, low and behold, two humpback whales decided to pass by. Got some very nice views of them breaching ad the characteristic tailfin splash. Fantastic! Was even getting a little annoyed with the dolphins that kept hanging around and disturbing the view of the whales. In short, the tour was amazing! Our guides onboard were great. Knowledgeable and friendly with excellent English skills. I can highly recommend the company Picos de Aventura and then it's up to the powers that be to decide what you'll see out to sea.

Juan took us on an amazing expedition. Spotted two different species of whales and a giant pod of spotted dolphins! What a breath takin adventure!

They recommended catamarang for whale and dolphine watching so it is not too bad for the back - and i appreciated this advice! Very nice experience! We saw whales, dolphines and turtles! And plenty of them! The crew was amazingly helpful and friendly, explaining many things along the way!

Loved every minute of the trip. Yes we did no see whales, but they are wild animals sometimes you just can't find them. Boat ride on zodiac was fun as ever with big bumps and jumps, better then any fairground ride :) but make sure that your spine and body can handle rough sea. Also they accept credit card.

Excellent whale watching tour, well run and friendly crew and staff. We were fortunate enough to see a pod of approx 11 Sperm Whale's, plus lots of dolphins. The skipper is very helpful and gave us loads of tips for places to eat across the island. All of them being excellent!
