This botanic gardens is a very impressive effort to have been pulled off by a small city: the international collections are genuinely intriguing and the landscaping is generally to a metropolitan standard. Enjoy the variety and the well executed presentation and salute the locals responsible!

I stopped in at the Regional Botanic Gardens in Coffs today when I spotted a sign outside the gate which advertised an exhibition for arts and crafts. I really didn't expect the high degree of works on exhibit to the public. I spent some time there admiring the art and craft work this afternoon. I fine effort assembled by the artists and crafters which contained and displayed a lot of local content. Congratulations. Well done.

Bring here is a great experience walking around seeing all the plants and large trees with a lot of species existing, with a lot of different sizes and shapes. It also has lots of sections to explore and even a lake based on Japan known as the Friendship Garden with that duckweed on the lake that looks as if you can run on it. It also rained quite a bit at our stay, and luckily, we were at the Japanese lake and got under cover. There is a small problem though, with the rain and how wet it gets is that you might see a leech or two get on you. Although this is rather bad, it doesn’t ruin the experience too much if you can deal with it. Once you finish your walk there, you can go back to maybe get a snack to relax or buy something nice at the shop which includes a few paintings, some face masks and more. I would recommend visiting again, although I recommend going with some covered shoes and pants in rather rainy weather as a leech might jump on you, although it’s not TOO much harm. Just a bit scary but you can get them off within a few tries.

The jewel of Coffs Harbour, the Botanic Gardens are perfect for a long wander. Not only are the grounds serenely beautiful, there's educational aspects with different habitats, regions and a large selection of very rare and endangered plant species. The walk through the mangroves along Coffs Creek in the late afternoon was lovely and the Japanese Friendship Gardens one of the better examples I have seen in Australia. I regret not spending more time here and make sure you leave more than an hour aside for a visit.

Went here on my own to fill in time - really glad I did. It was so peaceful and beautiful. The walking tracks were all signposted and I had loads of options to wander or stray from the main path. Despite some features not being available due to COVID-19, it still was 100% worth the visit. You can easily spend two - three hours here just walking around and enjoying the scenery. Well maintained, well situated in Coffs Harbour and recommend it to anyone in the area!
