The most perfect of wedding venues. The grounds are stunning and there are so many options for where you can get married, have reception drinks and place your marquee. Paul is incredibly helpful and nothing is ever a problem at all. It is a magical place with stunning views and a really private, calm atmosphere. Total perfection. This is a hidden gem north of York and only opens to the general public about a month every year although is very popular as a wedding venue. The house was built on the site of a former priory but no sign exists of this now. The house has been in the same family since the Reformation and is currently occupied by descendants one of whom, the owner, sold me my ticket! I took a guided tour of the house and it was very interesting seeing both the Elizabethan/Jacobean side and the later 18th Century extension. The house sits in extensive grounds ad has a great view across to the White Horse of Kilburn over the lake.

Ashame the house wasn't open but in these covid times they were right to stay closed.... the grounds were nice to walk around.. .. would go again
