Marin Staple — period. There aren’t many left like this one. Walk in and feel like it’s the 60’s. Old school but classy. Have to love and respect it. Sit at the counter or get a table. Counter can be fun and engaging —pending the people of course. Owner’s are a couple pizanos. Family business. Blood, sweat ,and tears. Good people. Bought Olive Oil from me back in 2016. Bar area is cool too. Usually a pianist on site. Food is solid. Big portions. Great bread. Burger is the real deal. Bulky. Ground beef hand crafted on a butcher block with onions. Underrated treat is their warm pies. GET MIXED BERRY A LA MODE... just make sure you fast for 16 hours after crushing it. Ciao!

Marin Joe's is one of those restaurants that I have seen on the side of the 101 freeway for literally as long as I can remember. I didn't realize that it is a Marin County institution and good restaurant until I sat in the lively waiting area of the restaurant waiting for a salad Joe's had donated for me to take to a charity event. I promised myself I'd eat there soon. Soon, turned out to be last night. My three companions and I got lucky and were able to sit in a large comfortable booth right away. It was 6:00pm on a Monday night. I've been told that the restaurant is quite crowded on weekends with long waits. Reservations are for parties of seven (7) or more. We enjoyed the easy going 50s ambiance, good martinis, the chefs in their toque hats cooking where we could see them and of course, the delicious food. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. She recommended to the two of us who had the steak special that the chefs tended to under cook meat, so we ordered the steaks \medium\ and got the Medium Rare we really wanted. They were perfect actually. The Cherry Pie was fresh and good. All in all, this is a fine place to eat.

A Marin fixture, we have been going to MJs for many years. It is the best at any time and in every way for steaks, chops, pastas and the entire line of Italian specialties. Their New York cuts, “special” spinach, French fries, veal parmigiana, salads, zabaglion (sp) and liver and onions are my favorites but they adapt to your needs as well. Service is friendly and efficient and prices no surprise! I highly recommend it!

Huge portions, great food, friendly staff. What else could you want? We had the prime rib (excellent, better than House of Prime Rib) and lasagna (also excellent, maybe on the sweet side). We went for the pesto sauce on the pasta, which was perhaps the best pesto I've ever had.
