Good public transit. Routes can be a bit confusing but overall clean and on time. Great way to get around.

Not too bad for a small town. The buses do run more-or-less on time, and most of the drivers are really nice. Buses have bicycle racks and ample accommodation for wheelchairs. Riding the bus can actually be fun in this town, so it's not at all a bad way to get around, once you learn how to use it. There's definitely room for improvement, though. Most bus stops aren't marked with signs, and don't have benches or shelters of any kind, so you have to figure out beforehand where they're located and when your bus gets there. Unlike most mass transit systems, transfers are only good for 1.5 hours, not two, and absolutely can not be used for return trips. Aside from being stingy, it can be quite confusing. Some parts of certain routes don't make any sense at all -- like stopping at Mayo Specialty Clinic, which is closed on Saturdays, rather than the Emergency Room on the opposite side of the hospital, which is always open. Some of the more circuitous routes frankly feel like holdovers from decades ago, when ridership patterns were no doubt quite different. Many bus routes and assignments seem to focus more on MSU students' comfort and convenience to the exclusion of other commuters' needs. Finally, there's no service at all on Sunday. \It'll be a cold day in hell\ before we get Sunday service, in the words of one driver. (I can not help but wonder whether Minnesota winters count.)
