South Goa, Benaulim This is a small mess type of outlet with about 7-8 two seater tables. Quick look at the menu hanging on the wall, decided to try something different from the fish thali that I've been eating every day. So asked them if I could get small portions of the pork admas, vindaloo and amsol. They were taken aback, (with my wanting to try all 3) but very generously offered to serve me half portions of each, along with some pav and some rice. My favorite dish was the pork amsol. At the outset it looked like a typical Indo chinese chilly pork, but it was far from it. It had a delightful sourness that covered the pork chunks and the sliced onions. The dish was dryish, just a little bit of the sauce at the bottom. This went very well with the pav. The pork admas is with the bone in, so I struggled a little bit with the meat. It had more of a "standard" gravy, the red colored (with the ground red chilies with lots of color and low spice) one. Not very sour, not very spicy, not greasy, it had a good balanced flavor. The sorpotel was true to tradition, made with small cubes of fatty pork, liver, entails etc and lots of vinegar. It's sometimes kept for a couple of days, to increase the gamey flavor, and this had it in droves. Overall enjoyed the meal. When I go back, I'm going to go straight to the amsol, that was what I liked the best! Total damages were around 350!

Must visit place for some amazing local food experience. We walked for almost 20-30 mins, once from Colva and once from Benaulim and it was worth every step. I still remember the feeling of happiness and satisfaction after having the fish thaali....a taste that can never be forgotten. Have had fish thaali from many places in Goa..from big n small restaurants...but this is the place that won my heart. Also the owner is a nice man who interacts personally with his customers to ensure that they are satisfied. Will be back whenever I am in South Goa.
