Fantastic place for a very scenic walk.... Lots of vegetation.... The pool is closed due to Covid-19..... obviously..... Nice view of the Grand River.... Can walk right up tho the water... Lots of spots to sit and enjoy the scenery....

Taekwondo Time

"Pack'em in like rats!" That should be the motto. Kiwanis park USED TO BE a very relaxing place to visit that was located out in the COUNTRY when I was a kid. Today, there have been several entirely new neighbourhoods that have been constructed around the park, which bump right up against the property on every side but the Grand River side. It's no longer the scenic and quiet place that it used to be. In addition, a number of trees were cut down (and not replaced) making the park feel more like a large patch of grass than an actual park. The park is noisy during the summer with large group barbeques. The pool is always filled to capacity. There's a designated leash-free dog park in the woods just off the trail, but if you know K-W, you know the entire city is a leash-free dog park already. If you peek over the fence you can see how the 1% lives with their enormous mansions adjacent to the river. The Grand River trail winds around and takes you into one of the nearby neighbourhoods of 800,000 homes on postage stamp sized lots. You'll never think you've left the city for more than about 5 minutes before country trail means urban life again.
