I have been going to Eds oil painting glasses for about two years now, but have missed a lot because of I Ill health. I found Ed to be a very patient and encouraging teacher. He always spoke about the good in a painting while also pointing out any mistakes. A mixture of students,in age and ability meant that no one was worried about their work not being good enough. The class had a good friendly atmosphere and students helped each other..I am hoping to return when I am well enough.

I’ve been to several of Ed’s classes. First, I really like his work, both drawing and painting. I’m sure it’s possible to learn from people even if you don’t much care for their style, but I like Ed’s draughtsmanship and use of colour. One of the best things, though, is that Ed is a really good teacher. So whatever your level and choice of materials, he is interested in what you do and wants to help you improve. Unlike many artists who teach though they would clearly rather be in their own studio working on their own stuff, Ed never gives that impression and teaching seems to be an important part of his own practice. Ed has worked out his own approach to seeing and depicting, through absorbing many styles and artists; he knows what he’s talking about! I highly recommend all of his classes.
I have attended Ed's class for nearly two years. I was a complete novice and I now love drawing and painting. He always finds something to praise and he creates a friendly relaxed atmosphere in class. Classes are a mixture of demonstrations and practical exercises.
Ed is a born teacher. He is calm and patient and takes time to explain each exercise. As he is a working artist, he has the ability to demonstrate each technique and starts each session with talk about what we are going to achieve in the class. The atmosphere is friendly and very relaxing and although I have only done one term with Ed which focussed on drawing techniques, I thoroughly enjoyed each class and saw immediate improvement in my skills. We have just had the initial introductory oil painting class and Ed took the time to provide us with a materials list to buy and recommended a book for inspiration. He then did a demo of the basic techniques which we were to practise in a quick, beautiful painting before we then attempted our own artworks. Ed is always positive in his feedback and gives expert advice on how you can improve your work.I absolutely love his classes and would recommend them to beginners, intermediate and experienced artists alike.
I have been attending Ed's art classes in Melton for a few years now. Thoroughly enjoyable classes, very relaxed atmosphere, a positive experience. I have learned and improved alot under very good and patient instruction.
