I cannot recommend the artwork of Karen Horne and Phyllis Horne enough! Karen's mastery of light, color, texture, and portrayal of the subject is nothing short than the work of a master artist. As a dancer, I find her many pieces on dancing captivating and true to the spirit of dance--a genuine capture of the joy of dancing done with the same level of artistic ability were Degas to have done it himself. Phyllis' landscapes are breathtaking, done with the kind of detail you would expect from Wyeth and portrayal of light you see from the great landscape artists of the Luminist movement. Michael is a kind and generous man with a wonderful sense of humor. Karen and Michael are people who are a genuine pleasure to meet and get to know. If you go to Salt Lake City, Horne Art Gallery is a "must see" stop!
Having enjoyed alfresco dining in various countries in our travels, my wife and I were thrilled to discover it as a subject among the impressionist expressions of the local cultural scene by acclaimed Salt Lake City artist Karen Horne. I commissioned a personalized work, based on a previous effort by Ms Horne, depicting my wife and I "at table" , in celebration of our 40th wedding anniversary. The result is absolutely stunning; evocative of so many fond memories for us! Karen's graciousness as a hostess (assisted by her charming husband, Michael Rowley) is eclipsed only by her exceptional talent as an artist. Karen and Michael have a great sense of style which shows in their very tasteful gallery. While primarily a showcase for Karen's work, there is a great selection of works by other artists.
