Looked forward to a meal here. Nice big car park pub/restaurant is very nice as were the staff...that was the highlight. Went to the bar to order as wanted to eat in the bar but was told if ordered a main and starter it would come at the same time !!! I asked if they could bring out after my starter but was told only could be done if in the restaurant...bonkers. had a drink and asked to sit in restaurant asked to pay for everything but could only take for drink....again crazy. Sat in restaurant and waited quite a while in a quarter full restaurant. The mushroom starter all right...so looked forward to my lamb hot pot. Well 20mins later after clearing my starter the hot pot came. I have to check the menu again as it had a pastry top not sliced potatoes as a hot pot should be...this was a lamb pie...my fault should have read menu better. Came with red cabbage and sprouting broccoli....cabbage in a separate bowl and was cold, stone cold and was supposed to be like that, who serves cold red cabbage and hot broccoli. Well the main event. Dry pastry, the filling was so hot any liquid had evaporated and no flavour. You could not eat the pastry as it was like cardboard without any gravy/sauce a hot pot should have. I was basically very dissatisfied so left my food paid and left. On this visit I would never return.

Good food. Good prices and the pasta dish was generous. The pasta was a little too soft for my tastes but had well balanced flavours. I ordered a tea and the dry tea bag was placed on the saucer next to the cup, not in the water, so it didn't brew as it should as the water had cooled slightly: I would have thought a British restaurant would know tea should be made with just boiled water. Also, it wasn't a small pot of tea, just a small cup of hot water, only half filled. Overall everything was fine.

Good covid19 measures in place on entry and seating arrangements. Venue is clean, food tasty with generous portions. Would recommend and visit again.

Every time I have eaten here the food has been spot on with great service to match. Eatery worth supporting.

Looks great since the refit. Staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. Unfortunately two of the three real ales were out when we visited but we still had a great time and enjoyed the only one left. Seems popular with all ages and there is a huge carpark which makes it a great location.
