The incident at this power plant a decade ago, as well as Tokyo Electric Power Company's (TEPCO) negilgence in terms of cleaning up the radioactive waste, poor construction planning (completely ignoring the tsunami that occurred in the region in the 19th century, before Japan opened it's borders to foreigners), failure to respond to critical problems in their plants (and to take preventative measures after the 2004 Indian Ocean tusnami), has turned the once-great Fukushima Prefecture into a radioactive wasteland for years on end. Residents in a large area near the plant were forced to evacuate, despite the plant exclusively providing power to Tokyo Metropolis. In other words, no one living in the radiation area was benefitting from the plant. In conclusion, nuclear plants should be built with more caution in the future. Even oil and coal plants, which are criticized by environmentalists to be \highly polluting\ is a better choice after the fallout. And the 2015 simulation game, Cities: Skylines, makes a cameo to this incident if you build a nuclear power plant in the city.
