If you know one Madeira producer, it might be Blandy’s. Visiting their lodge is a walk of the Madeira wine history and a fascinating story of family business changing hands (the vintage tour recommended) The cellar has a town-house style, with each room of its own temperature and humidity level, giving wines (even from the same vineyard, year, variety etc) full range of characters and profiles in 650 different barrels and vats. Behind a thick wall and a vault is the family’s private collection, dating back to 17th century

If you want to learn more about the production of Madeira wine, you can do so at Blandy’s Wine Lodge. Tours are offered here, while those interested wine lovers can learn all the details about viticulture. Or: you can follow our paths straight to the tasting bar we. The staff at the bar explains all the different kinds and flavors of the wine in detail to every customer.

Visit was well organised but the tasting was rather commercial. It would've been better if we were able to choose our glasses so that we can buy our bottles accordingly. Tour guide's French was good

Great little walkabout and tasting session.. the guide was a top woman. Good job. Might think about just having the one tour instead of two?!?

Nice tour, interesting information, nice guide and good tasting. It is possible to buy discounted bottles with the ticket and it is cheaper than in a regular store. Definitely worth a visit.

Don’t waste your time. Called the ticket office to schedule tour 2 hours before the starting time. Arranged the rest of our day around our tour time. Once we arrived we were told there were no tours at that time anymore... so don’t bother checking the schedule or calling as it can’t be trusted!

way overpriced. staff is quite unfriendly. we did the vintage tour: not much information, but the rooms are nice and the tasting is good (2 wines).
