Harder to get up close to this place in the winter season as the snow is piled high on the roadside hill to its location near the entrance to the Fort Simpson Territorial park - Papal grounds

Excellent spot to stop for a picnic, view of the ice break-up, or just enjoy a quiet spot. My experience was great neighbours looking out for the area on both sides as well.
Great view historical site
This historic site is the location of a lot of local events like bake sales, book sales, etc. Picnic tables and outhouse make it a nice place to sit and overlook the confluence of the Mackenzie and Liard rivers.
