Our whole family enjoys the East Hartford Library so so much! The children and teen sections are creative, clean, safe and full of great displays to draw young readers in. The librarians are super helpful and in this corona crisis, have been lifesavers picking great books for the kids!

Came to this library because I had an important training video call for a new job that I was recently hired to. I had been unemployed for months prior to this so as you can imagine, this was very important for me. I asked a staff member if I could reserve a room and so she said I could use the rare books room. I got myself set up in the room and waited for the call. Minutes later, a woman walked into the room. I did not say anything for some time because I assumed she would only be in there for a short time but after about 20 minutes or so I was about to get on the call so I let her know that I would need privacy believing that since I reserved the room, I would have it for the allotted time. The lady left and got another staff member who came back and said that I do no have the room to myself even if I reserved it. This confused me on so many levels because why would you make a room reservable if it is not even going to be for that persons personal use during the allotted time... I also did not like how they were making it out as if I was the one being rude when I was trying to be as respectful as possible but simply needed the room for something important while this woman was only browsing through yearbooks. I found her to be quite rude because she could have at the very least been considerate enough to understand that I would need some privacy rather than get a staff member who also did not provide me with any kind of alternative. I truly tried my best to be respectful while also being stressed since I had an important call in minutes. I ended up going to the parking lot and going on the call on my phone. The lack of respect or understanding really turned me off as you can imagine not only to the library staff but to the other patrons and how selfish they can be. I hope that the staff will be respectful and accommodating to all of their patrons in the future and not just the ones who bark the loudest.

Best staffed, stocked and technologically equipped library in Hartford County...in my opinion. Beautifully remodeled in 2015.

Nice library but I've seen one guy living here. I see him everyday, eat and drink and chill out. guess it turned out to be a shelter for homeless.
