We randomly picked a state park to go camping within a 4 hour drive from North Texas. We had a great time! Clean bathrooms, short trails suitable for small kids, plenty of wildlife and nice campsites made this park perfect for camping with kids. We camped at site 27 which was assigned by reservations staff when I called to make reservations. We did not know it was an assessable site until we arrived. If you have a Scout, look out for the meeting area sponsored by BSA Troop 113 on the Discovery Circle trail. The kids were excited when they happened upon it!

Took a day trip out to see what this place had to offer. The water was so low that you could not see it in some places. If you had a kayak or canoe and felt like dragging it down to the water then you could access it. Rather small park that could use some updates and repair. You can rent pavilions for 60 and they have restrooms, fireplace, electric, benches, and lights. There are also cabins and shelters to rent as well. Covid-19 had much of the rentals closed. There were a few people camping with RVs,but pretty much a ghost town. We will probably go back and see what it looks like in the spring or summer. I would have rated more stars, but could not access all the park had to offer at this time. I will update if I go back and things are back to normal.

Perfect getaway. Sites were spaced perfectly for our 3 families. Love the small decks at most of the camp sites.
