Took weeks to finally get registered in time to then be denied a mail-in ballot as it was not allowed to be sent to my home address. This is right before I leave for Oklahoma to take care of an ailing parent for the next month. It might be helpful to put on the ABM form that the mailing address that the ballot needs to be sent to is the address out of the county the person is going to. Now I am past the deadline of requesting a mail-in ballot after all of the time I have put into trying to get this sorted out. I keep hearing that voting has been made so easy when that most certainly has not been the case.

SUMMARY: Disappointed in the Dallas County Elections Department. They failed to process our Application for Ballot by Mail and, as a result, we may be denied the right to vote. It appears other Dallas residents have had similar experiences. All this—even after recent reports identified major lapses in processing and efficiency. BACKGROUND: We timely submitted our Applications for Ballot by Mail (ABBMs) to the Dallas County Elections Department. By Oct. 28th we still had not received ballots despite the approaching submission deadline. I called the Dallas County Elections Department three (3) times to check on the issue. Despite having received our ABBMs the Dallas County Elections Department failed to process them. After describing the issue, I was transferred to a supervisor on each call and on each call a supervisor failed to pick up. I left a voicemail for supervisors and have yet to hear back. As a result of the inefficiencies and lack of oversight of the Dallas County Elections Department, our household (and perhaps many more) will lose the right to vote in this year's general election.

Dallas County Elections Department is incompetent. They rejected my emergency ballot application because they didn't know what it was and thought it was for early voting. So they told my brother (representative) that I should do curbside voting even though I have COVID. FYI Emergency ballots are for people who got sick after the early voting mail-in ballot deadline to file (Oct 23rd) and is extended until 5 PM on election day. The actual ballot can be turned in by 7 PM on election day.
