Dewitt did our energy audit, guided us to the ideal contractor (Upright Frameworks) for the unique aspects of our job, and walked us through the process of maximizing the Efficiency Maine rebate program. He's an extremely knowledgable guy about all things building related--energy, comfort, health and safety. With a variety of tools--blower door, infrared camera, and more--he was able to figure out that ours was a particularly challenging air sealing job that required a contractor with a high degree of care. Dewitt is an independent--meaning he does the evaluations but not the work--but he knows the best contractors and will tell you exactly who is best for your situation. And then, once the work has been completed, he'll \test out\ to make sure the job was done thoroughly. In our case, things were perfect, but I know of at least one other situation in which he forced a foam insulation contractor to come back and fix areas they'd missed. I also really like the fact that Dewitt is an ex-teacher. He relishes the role of helping homeowners understand building science. Great guy. Highly recommended.

Dewitt provided a mold inspection for my family's hundred year old lakeside cottage. In one visit Dewitt was able to identify problem areas, suggest remediation methods, and take samples to back up his informed opinion with test results. Dewitt just does inspections and because he's not trying to sell you any specific follow-on work he makes a point to give you all your options and will talk through his report with the contractor you do end up choosing to take the next step. Dewitt did a great job for us, and because of him we will be able to fully enjoy living in our home again this coming summer.
