First off, what an absolutely amazing thing to create with children! The narrative was read aloud in the train car to allow you time to look at the display. The key to the gate was easily retrieved from up the street. The whole town takes such pride in this tribute to the children lost in the Holocaust. It was so emotionally moving!!! Well kept and covered area from rain. Wheelchair accessible as well
A very awe inspiring exhibit! We visited the weekend of Holocaust Remembrance Day. If you are come when the school is closed you need to go to Castle's Grocery a short drive down the road to pick up a key to the gate. We saw the film Paper Clips several years ago and have always wanted to visit the school and memorial. It is a very emotional sight for the eyes and soul. To hear talk of tolerance, acceptance and remembrance miles from where the Scopes Monkey Trial was held and so close to where the KKK was formed is heartening! Everyone we talked to in the area was proud this is in their community and proud to carry the story to new generations.
Very moving and powerful! Don't forget to stop at Castle Market to get the gate key to get in. They are very trusting and will hand the key right over. Be sure and take your time to take all of the Memorial in!
