one of my favorite places in Celle! the place is cozy and has a great atmosphere. you can sit at the bar to grab a drink or on nice wide tables if you want to grab a bite to eat. the food is delicious and the staff is your friend. I very recommend a visit to Schattauer if you are in Celle. If you are in the mood for soup ask for the cucumber soup or \Gurkensuppe\ in German... it is not on the menu and you will thank me later ;)

We are in Celle only once a year and I had no idea It was there until my Dad recommended it. We had dinner there last week, the weather was great for sitting in the beer garden. I had the schnitzel with a baked potato and it was by far the best schnitzel I’d had on this trip. My Dad had the Schweins Haxe and I could see it was fall-off-the-bone tender. My Husband had the Ochsen fetzen which he said was average. What really stood out was the service. For the most part I find service in Germany quite rude, but these two ladies were great, very friendly, and had a great sense of humour. They really made and already good evening even better.
The food had an amazing taste!
