Last remaining historic Bataan Boxcar. Filipinos and Americans who survived the treacherous death march were crammed like sardines into these tiny boxcar packed to a point that they could only stand with tiny slits on the side of the cars to breath. Fit for 30, close to 100 traveled from San Fernando train station to Capas. Some suffocated to death while many were sick, urinated, or had other bodily releasements inside during the ride. Unfortunately up to 31,000 US/Philippine people would lose their lives during this horrible March, train ride, or at the concentration camp (here at Capas National Shrine) where they ended up.
