I have called and left countless voicemails to get a call back regarding my medical records and it has been a month since then and I have yet to receive a call back or medical records sent to me. Instead l receive a bill for Vitamin D pills costing 24 which can be purchased online for only 5 a bottle. Not only is their treatment of patient concerns terrible they are a big scam!

This complex serves the people who have served in the United States Military Armed Forces. The medical facilities are clean and ready to care for the Veterans in need of medical attention. Veterans greet one another with a certain comorady. The food service area is fashioned in the style of a canteen, where both employees of the facility and Veterans may eat meals at a good price, that doesn't burn a hole in the wallet. Food is freshest and enjoyed before late afternoon. At the time of this post there were two stations indoors to buy gift items: a vendor selling jewelry and a vendor selling t-shirts. Outdoors there is a small memorial site with benches to sit and take in a little history of those who have served in the Military.

I must say, the VA has been responsive with all of my healthcare needs. From appointment scheduling, to referrals to medications. The providers and staff here are super responsive. I am pleasantly surprised and happy with the care I am receiving.

Under-funded, under-staffed, you must wait at least 3 weeks to get a radiology scan scheduled. They've had parking issues for many many years that no one addresses. There is space to create more parking. Part of the staff really pulls a lot of weight and does an excellent job. The other part sits by, does as little work as possible as slowly as possible, collects a government salary, and then goes on to retire on the taxpayer's dime. Some are irritated and mortally offended when you ask them to work. Many have lied about medically relevant information to mask the fact that they did not do their jobs properly or at all. The police look like they literally have the cushiest police jobs in NYC. It's advertised that they're there to protect those that served, but I think they're actually there to protect do nothing VA employees from angry Veterans who get the short end of the stick regarding medical service. The bureaucracy from Manhattan and within the hospital directly influences and affects medical decision making. A doctor may try to do the right thing, and then meed an administrative road block which places finances/fiduciary responsibility ahead of a Veteran's best medical interests. It is sad that everyone on TV and all the politicians all \support\ Veterans via their words, but in reality on the ground at the VA Hospitals - many blatant problems simply continue. If you want to support Veterans, pump tons of cash into the VA system, make high quality patient care and service the top priority, and allow doctors to freely make the best medical decisions for Veterans. We were asked to give the military our best, our blood, sweat, and sometimes even our lives. It would be nice if the people who serve those that served also give their best, rather than the current mediocre at best service we get now. Either that, or shut down all the VA hospitals and give us all some unrestricted platinum healthcare plans and shutdown the VA / fire all the VA employees.

About the best VA hospital in the state of New York I've been getting my medical coverage here since 1977
