Very cool and historical place for boat lovers! We had visited to decide if we wanted to use it for a rehearsal dinner and it's basically a warehouse/large garage with boats in it. Pretty rough for a wedding rehearsal dinner. Otherwise a cool place.

Great historical museum. Lots of Herreshoff design boats. Old classic design. Great to be surround by the amazing boats. Great location. Marina by the museum. 10 minutes walk to the town. Great place for hosting event such as Hylas rendezvous.

If you even the slightest bit nostalgic for the classic boats this is a place that will feed your soul. A must see for any classic boat enthusiast, America's Cup fan or especially a lover of Herreshoff's artistry. The yachting history and advancements that were made here changed the course of yacht design. Make sure you poke around the boat building areas across the street. Don't miss the massive model of Reliance as well!!!

The museum also hosts symposia related to yacht design and operates a sailing school. The museum was founded in 1971 by A. Sidney DeWolf Herreshoff and Rebecca Chase Herreshoff to preserve the accomplishments of the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company. In 1992, founded by Halsey Chase Herreshoff and Edward duMoulin, the museum launched the America's Cup Hall of Fame to honor outstanding individuals of the America's Cup yacht race. Among other works, the company built Doris (Sailing yacht), which is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
