Good for kids
Really nice area for a walk. Part of the area is being restructured and walking paths in the latter part of the green route (Mariënbergerdijk) are very muddy and difficult to get through. Boots or good waterproof higher style walking shoes are recommended! Views of the surrounding area are very beautiful and the different routes are well signposted. There are multiple signposted routes with varying lengths from two up to ten kilometers. The area has different types of forest, sand drifts and heath with the occasional fen. Along the way you'll most likely pass "House Beerze" a beautiful country house in the middle of nature. On the main entrance to the country house you can find two lions, one with the coat of arms of Baron Bentinck the first owner and one with that of Esquire Röell the second owner. The house was frequently visited in the past by the former Dutch queen Juliana and her children. This due to the good connections between the Esquire and the Dutch royal family. He was the personal secretary to the then queen.
