Register life events-they surely help. I was there to register my boy's birth. I found staff friendly. Few things to remember-need to take appointment (must) personally or by phone. For your birth registrations, it's good to carry red book provided by hospital, remember DOB of baby and the name given to the baby, of course! It takes about 10 minutes for registrar to get the baby's detail in computer, let you cheçk it if you are ok you will get the certificate for FREE(which is necessary for your child benefit application) and additional copies for official purposes make you pay 4 each. I believe the process is same for both marriage and death. All these events are important to family and the borough councils. Register them to authority-it will help.
