Used this company for the first time after being messed around for weeks by another repairer. Very happy with them, they came the same day and fixed my range cooker within an our for a reasonable call out charge. No extra charges. Refreshing!

Provided full and detailed descriptions of an issue with a fridge/freezer which had failed, including that it was either the compressor or relay. The engineer arrived, listened to the description and said the fridge/freezer was beyond economic repair and they wouldn't touch it. Apparently full information was not provided to the engineer on the job sheet, only that the fridge wasn't keeping temperature and the freezer was defrosting. Engineer was very sympathetic about the fact that I'd paid 66 and had to take a half day off work for him to arrive in my kitchen and say \It's never the relay on modern units\, but central office felt their conduct was completely justified because \they're not engineers\. This may be fine, but a customer describing an issue in detail and pointing to one of two faulty components should be noted - the engineer could then have simply phoned to advise and saved a callout fee and my afternoon.

Same poor experience as reviewer below. Provided full and detailed descriptions of an issue with a Bosch oven which had stopped working properly, including that it was the thermostat that had failed. Paid 72.00 callout charge. The engineer arrived the next day, looked at it, and confirmed it was the thermostat that had failed. Did not have one in van to fix the problem despite being Central Office given model number and Bosch part no. Following day Central Office called back with quote for part, Baldwins quoted 2x Bosch retail price. Queried cost of part with Baldwins. No reply. 2 weeks go by, during which time several emails to Baldwins, acknowledged but still no explanation why Baldwins should charge 2x the manufacturers retail price for a part. Gave up waiting some time ago and bought thermostat from Bosch (free overnight delivery, by the way), fixed it myself in 20 minutes. Asked for refund of call-out charge as all engineer did was confirm what I had already said - guess what – no reply on that either. Draw your own conclusions – can’t recommend and we won’t be using Baldwins ever again.

Very poor service - approach with caution. Took a 66 deposit from me when booking a fridge freezer repair, then gave a 5 hour window for the visit. Took half a day off work to wait in, then when I called them with 1 hour to go before the end of the window, they said that the engineer couldn't make it as he was too busy and the traffic was bad. Wanted to reschedule with another large window for the next day. I requested my deposit back, which was honoured, but I have lost half a day of leave, and the company didn't even have the courtesy to call me and let me know that the engineer had no intention of arriving. Disappointing and poor service.
