Although the main attraction usually is the airshow held annually, there are also flight training days held on the first saturday of every month where museum aircraft are flown, although this has been affected by COVID-19. The static displays are open on these days and food is available at the Windsock Cafe. The museum is a fantastic outing and by visiting the museun and making a small donation, you help keep our aviation heritage intact.

Beautiful base with a friendly fire fighter and a brilliant slice of history

So although the airshow held here was great and well organized there are people smoking everywhere and it doesn’t appear that the organizers made any effort to try and regulate this. You cannot go anywhere where there are no smokers not even in the children’s play areas.

Premier Air Force Museum in SA, excellent air show. Facilities at show very good indeed as were access arrangements.

The museum and old plains are great and if you get a chance go to the airshow it is better than the Waterkloof show as you sit closer to the runway getting up close and personal with the aircraft. 7 September 2019 is the next airshow.
